Formula E Berlin 2026: The E-Prix as a Music Festival

▶ 2:06 min read

42,000 spectators, 22 race cars with over 350 horsepower, zero emissions–and then there are the DJ sets that are louder than the electric motors. The Berlin E-Prix at Tempelhof has evolved over the past few years into one of the capital’s most unusual weekend events. In 2026, the program will be even bigger.

  • Berlin E-Prix 2026: 2–3 May at Tempelhof Airport, tickets from 29 Euro
  • Allianz E-Village with DJ sets, live acts, and technology showcases
  • Gen3 race cars: 0–100 km/h in 2.8 seconds, quiet enough to enjoy music alongside
  • Electronic music is a core part of the Formula E experience

Tempelhof: Where History Meets the Future

Berlin-Tempelhof is no ordinary race track. The circuit winds across the apron of the decommissioned airport, past the iconic terminal building from the 1930s. This backdrop makes the Berlin E-Prix one of the most photogenic motorsport events in the world–and imbues the weekend with an atmospheric depth that classic race tracks rarely offer. Since 2015, the Formula E has made Berlin its regular host. No other venue has remained on the calendar continuously. Berlin is the spiritual home of the electric racing series–and the city wears this status with pride.

“Formula E has understood what Formula 1 ignored for years: that fans don’t just want races, they want an experience.”

More Than Motorsport: The E-Village as Festival Grounds

What sets Formula E apart from traditional motorsport is its entertainment concept. Inside the Allianz E-Village–an open event zone right beside the track–live acts and DJ sets run in parallel with the race action. In past seasons, headliners have included Fisher, Jonas Blue, and local Berlin techno acts. The strategy is deliberate: since taking the helm in 2023, Formula E CEO Jeff Dodds has stressed that the series thinks “entertainment-first.” The target audience isn’t just classic motorsport fans; it’s 18- to 35-year-olds chasing an urban event experience. Berlin is the perfect proving ground.

The Gen3 EVO: The Fastest Electric Race Cars Ever

On track in 2026, the upgraded Gen3 EVO will compete. Key specs: over 350 kW (≈ 476 hp), 0–100 km/h in 2.8 seconds, and a top speed of 322 km/h. For the first time, the all-wheel-drive layout with front-motor recuperation is in play–the cars can regenerate up to 600 kW of power under braking. For spectators, that means racing that’s faster, tighter, and more tactical than ever. The Attack Mode (a boost zone on track) and Fanboost (online voting for extra power) keep every race unpredictable.

Tickets, Travel, Tips

Tickets: General Admission from 29 Euro/day, grandstand 89–199 Euro, VIP from 499 Euro. Children under 12 free. Getting there: U-Bahn to Paradestraße or Tempelhof (U6), then a 10-minute walk. Bike parking directly at the venue. Tip: Saturday’s programme packs the most concerts into the E-Village alongside the Qualifying. If you want race action and live music in one go, pencil in Saturday–or just grab the weekend ticket.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

Q&A after the Show

Click on a question.

When is Formula E Berlin 2026?
The Hankook Berlin E-Prix 2026 takes place on 2 and 3 May at Tempelhof Airport. Two races in one weekend, plus DJ stages and the Allianz E-Village. Tickets from 29 Euro.
Is there music at the Formula E race?
Yes. The Allianz E-Village features DJ stages, live acts and electronic music as a permanent fixture of the supporting programme. The music runs all day long.
How loud are Formula E cars?
Significantly quieter than Formula 1 cars. That’s an advantage for the music: you can chat and listen to the DJs during the race without ear protection.
